Online Research!

| General Research |
Unless you are an expert in the field of your desired
purchase, spend time studying the subject! The Internet has put a wealth of
information at your fingertips. Learn what products are available, learn who
makes them, learn what differentiates one from another. Learn what others -
both personally and professionally - think about the products. Research is
generally conducted by categories or by keywords. A categorized search for a
Framing Hammer may start with the Home & Garden category, followed by a
Tools subcategory, then Hand Tools, then Hammers, then Framing Hammers ...
Keyword searches expect you to type in the words that would be present (in
non-graphical form) on web pages having information about your subject. You
need to figure out the relevant terms - often the name of the item your are
looking for - such as "Framing Hammer". If your keyword(s) is(are) too general
or popular, you will have far too many search results to choose from and most
will not be relavant. Add additional keywords to narrow your search and improve
the relevancy of your search results. Visiting manufacturers' web sites is
always a good idea. The most accurate specifications and pictures usually exist
there. You can be sure to get the latest model as well. Retailers often try to
sell an older model to clean out their inventory - this may be a good thing for
you if the price is significantly reduced or you like the older model better.
Don't forget the include the warranty in your comparisons. AND Use multiple
resources to do your research! If you use only one resource, you think you know
everything. After using the second resource, you realize that you knew very
little. After adequate research, you will truly know what you need to know!
Above are some sites to assist you with your study. |
| Computers & Electronics |
What the Internet is made of! Since the people who create the
Internet are typically interested in computers and electronics, there are many
sites devoted to such. |
| Digital Photography |
Film is dead! Well, maybe not, but digital is THE way to do
photography! Take all the pictures you want - they are free! Decide immediately
if you got the picture you want - or if Mom had her eyes closed - or if the
exposure is wrong. Share them electronically with the entire family. Adjust the
shots you did get - adjust exposure, remove blemishes, create collages, remove
distractions and MUCH MORE in the digital dark room. You minimumly need a
camera, a power source for the camera (typically rechargeable batteries of some
form) and a memory card. You should have a computer, a memory card reader and a
CD writer (to backup and share your full quality photos). A photo printer is
nice to have, but your local Wal-Mart can handle the printing very well. Now,
selecting the equipment that best suites your needs is where the Internet
becomes extremely useful. We have compiled a directory of the best sites to
help with your research. |
| Automobile Research |

information available to you - at no cost! We list enough sites to keep you
busy for weeks! |
